The Child Bearing Year
Pamela has assisted many women during the childbearing year, helping moms become pregnant and seeing them through a healthy pregnancy. She has assisted many home and hospital births, but she particularly is passionate about prebirth treatment – a preparatory and preventive series of treatments to help insure a smooth labor, delivery and birth experience. Pamela makes house calls for post partum care. Here are some ways TCM ensures reproductive health:
What Is a Doula?
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.
Numerous clinical studies found that a doula’s presence at birth: reduces negative feelings about one’s childbirth experience, reduces the need for pitocin (a labor-inducing drug), forceps or vacuum extraction and cesareans, and reduces mother’s request for pain medication and/or epidurals.
Pregnancy, First and Second Trimesters:
Pregnancy, Third Trimester:
Prebirth Treatment (package of five):
Labor Support (depending on availability).
Acupuncture Induction as an alternative to hospital induction. This treatment lasts 1-1/2 to 2 hours and generally includes massage, muscle release, pelvic exercise, acupuncture electrostimulation, herbs and/or other techniques, over one or two days.
Placenta Medicine: Prevent postpartum depression and other benefits of placenta medicine with encapsulation of your placenta
Encapsulated prepared placenta has been revered for two millenia in the Traditional Chinese Materia Medica as a powerful substance regenerative to the essence and the breath. Full of life force, the placenta aids in recovery from childbirth, provides iron, hormones, augments lactation, shortens bleeding time, and prevents mood jags; ultimately aiding the special post partum period of bonding and nurturance. Allow 2-4 days after the birth of your child for Pamela’s delivery of your encapsulation.
Pregnancy, Fourth Trimester:
Rejuvenate the body with moxibustion, postpartum meal recipes and herbal tonification. House calls an be provided for treatment
for afterpains, night sweats, perineal discomfort/healing, insufficient lactation, mastitis etc.

Pamela treated me for fertility and throughout my pregnancies with any issues that came up. For me our weekly sessions were a time of total relaxation when I could just focus on the moment. Now I have a beautiful boy and baby girl, at this moment fresh out of the tub!
