Having always been drawn to the healing arts, Pamela earned a Bachelor’s degree in Holistic Health from Antioch College in Seattle in 1980 where her degree included training and licensure in nutrition, Swedish massage at the Acadia School as well as certification in Touch For Health®, which was the earliest basis for her interest in concepts of TCM for the control and alleviation of pain, specifically channel theory, point function, and five element theory.
Pamela began practicing T’ai Chi Ch’uan in early 1976 prior to moving to San Francisco to study with Master Benjamin Pang Jeng Lo at the Universal T’ai Chi Ch’uan Association. She traveled to Taiwan and Malaysia with Mr. Lo in 1983, practicing and competing with Yang stylists also hailing from the distinguished lineage of Professor Cheng Man-Ch’ing. She was granted a Certificate of Form Instruction by Mr. Lo in 1984. Pamela has been known in the Yang Style martial art community as a competent practitioner and instructor. She has taught all ages of beginning and advanced practitioners in Europe and San Francisco. For the past several years she taught T’ai Chi at On Lok, a day health care organization serving San Francisco’s senior community.
Pamela is a trained doula and volunteered at San Francisco General Hospital assisting laboring women through early and active labor and immediate postpartum as well as having attended a number of other hospital and midwived home births. She actively supports the San Francisco doula and midwifery communities and while her practice treats the entire childbearing year, she is particularly passionate about prebirth acupuncture treatment for all pregnant moms-to-be. Pamela is available to provide doula services for one birth per month if scheduled by 30 weeks.
